Android SDK
I did it several months ago with the Eclipse IDE, using the instructions here. After installing the base SDK, you add the ADT Plugin to Eclipse and download more components. You then add an Android Virtual Device and test on that.
I was thinking of getting an Android phone, but never did, so I didn't pursue it further.

Thanks bnt - I did the same, but trying to add the ADT Plugin in Eclipse/developer tools it kept telling me
" Software currently installed: Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers 1.3.1.20100916-1202 (epp.package.jee 1.3.1.20100916-1202)
Only one of the following can be installed at once:
Eclipse UI 3.6.1.M20100826-1330 (org.eclipse.ui 3.6.1.M20100826-1330)
Eclipse UI 3.6.2.M20110203-1100 (org.eclipse.ui 3.6.2.M20110203-1100)" etc etc which was, unfortunately, meaningless to me and I cannot find any forum to ask.

I just installed it again, and don't get any errors ... that error looks to me like there's a clash of component versions, and the component is the Eclipse UI itself. Can you start again with a fresh installation of Eclipse? You won't need to download the ADK again, you'd just install the ADT plugin again and tell it to use the SDK you already have downloaded.

Sorry, and thanks - I thought the thread had 'died' - in fact I did just that, and it has worked. Whether I really wish to delve deeper into Android I am not sure, but, yes, problem has 'gone away'. It seermed that following the 'instructions' and installing the SDK first had caused the problems. Coming at it after an Eclipse install sorted it..
Appreciate your time!
