I have an Acer (5 months old ) , Windows 7. How do I check auto updates is disabled ? I use FF as a browser. I have a feeling it is enabled as there are times when I log off that there is a message " not to turn off/unplug as adding upgrades "
Thanks

" Be aware though that if you turn off auto updates you'll need to check for essential security updates manually or your M/c will be vulnerable."
Does the auto - update cover other programs then , other than MS/Windows ?
I run MS Security Essentials as an AV.

It will offer updates to other areas. Your graphics card or wireless adapter, for instance.
MSSE is also covered, but I prefer to do a daily update on that, and a weekly check for the bigger stuff. MS normally publishes its updates on the second Tuesday of the month.
