Grrrrrrrrrrrr...

I really guard my hello screen. I want one word under the FF menues, and that's Google - with a box to write into. Now I've got a long blue stripe with that message at one end and an arrow pointing to something.

I just want it as it was. Right clicking on it shows me, this: but I can't kill it. Any Ideas?

A Google search revealed that it is bringing our attention to their new google+ which, apparently, is going to take over from Facebook! They say the bar is only temporary.

P.S. - no idea why PRUNE appears in my answer - I wrote book!

ob - it is because Dunny does not like 'visagevolume'

LR - what is a 'hello screen'? Do you mean your 'Home Page'? How is this item displayed - is it a toolbar or what? Have you clicked on something associated with G+? What do you have 'ticked' on 'Toolbars'?

How may I hide the blue "Click here to start sharing on Google+" bar now appearing & annoyingly uninvited on home page? - Web Search Help

Well done, M. We now see that LR had Google has his home page and not surprisingly G wish to advertise G+, so, advice to LR - change the home page - maybe set it to 'visage volume'

OK so I went looking for Visage Volume:

Download file name: Vvardenfell Visages Volume IThis is a pluginless replacer consisting of meshes and textures to
replace the original default Morrowind heads and hairs, to include
both the Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansions. However, only Morrowind
is required. This pack covers Bretons, Dark Elves, High Elves, Imperials,
Nords, Orcs, Redguards, and Wood Elves with alternate packs for the Orcs
and vampire heads.

Is that how he spends his time ?

One got that, and something about dentists. Oh, my . . . Oh, my oh my.

I just want my Hello Screen. Yes, Home Page with just Google showing under the normal menus. Possibly the most powerful tool for writers since the Caxton press.

Still, when I get back to the land of Montezuma, I'll get my revenge format and load W7.

Several odd things have happened on this Vista Vaio in the last few weeks, but I can't risk messing with it too much until I'm back in me den.

EI vanished, as did Google Earth. (when I reloaded the latter from a download, all my pins were in place. That's really odd.) Tonight, I found my Barclay's remembered items were not remembered. (I leave just the later passwords to fill in.)

Thanks for the head-up. It seems I'll not need to go messing with it for now.

Why not just use a 'google' toolbar with the G search window on it? So far no invasion there of G+ and you can drag a bookmark to the main G page onto your bookmarks toolbar.

I discovered the same Google "enhancement" here on my Firefox browser computers.

I was able to fix it (for the moment anyway) by following through on the earlier discussion kindly highlighted by mixture (permalink #4) above. In the other group to which mixture's link points there is a suggestion to add three filter conditions to the Adblock Plus add-on, namely :

google.com###gbx2
google.com###gbx1
google.com###gbpr

It's important that you extend the Gurgle URL where applicable to specifically cover the URL used in your particular instance. The above did not work for me because I use the Australian Google server, but when I amended each line to read:

google.com.au###gbx2
google.com.au###gbx1
google.com.au###gbpr

the bar disappeared. Not that it was really worrying me all that much, but I thought the challenge worth while.

Incidentally, while I am 'on my feet' may I say how much I value the advice given on this forum. Thank you to those who contribute so generously and sometimes patiently. It's appreciated.

Regards
f-o-r
