Can anyone help?

I have lost internet connection on an HP laptop today, it seems as it is either IE8, or an actual laptop issue. The laptop in question is connecting via Outlook to retrieve emails and our desktop and this laptop are connecting fine?

Anyone know of an issues for which there is an easy fix?

Thanks,

BB

Try:

1. Make sure you haven't switched off the wireless by accident (assuming you connect with wireless) if an Ethernet connection, check you have flashing lights.

2. Reboot the router/computer, then try your web browser.

3. Try THIS, for further bits and pieces.

Spurlash2, thanks for your reply, interesting link I shall have to check out.

Further investigation has established that it connects fine with the firewall disabled, but not when enabled.

I have contacted anti virus technical help for assitance.

Thanks again.

BB,

Which Firewall do you use?

PS.. and which OS?

PPS... Go to IE|Tools|Internet Options, on the last tab "Advanced", look to the bottom of the dialogue box and click the "Reset" button.

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately it didn't work.

I think there may be a conflict with new software I installed as it was all working fine until I did.

Go on then, tell the us the name of the software!

Or do you have Windows firewall enabled as well as another firewall?

You didn't mention the new software you installed, but if it was Sophos;

Try this:

Disable the add-on called 'Sophos web content scanner'.
Tools|Manage Add-ons|Sophos Web Content Scanner|Disable.
Close IE, re-open.

or try Chrome|Firefox|Safari|Opera|SeaMonkey| and others
