e-mail notification of a PM

There a frequent postings telling people to check their PMs. Someone has just stated that you can have e-mail notification of a PM 'if you set it up correctly'. Please could someone advise me how to 'set it up' because I am blowed if I can find out how to do it. Many thanks.

Log in.

Click 'User CP'.

Under 'Settings and Options', click 'Edit Options'.

In the Messaging and Notification panel|Private Messaging, tick 'Enable Private Messaging'.

Tick 'Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages'.

Tick 'Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up'.

There are other options available.

Assuming you have notiifed an email to be used, of course. eg exascot at hotmail dot com, for instance. That's also in the CP, 'Edit email and Password'.

Saab will advise, I'm sure, but the feature had been disabled by Danny for the last 10 years! Tick it to your heart's content, but it never USED to work.

It always worked for me. It may only be because I'm a mod, but then I am sure it worked before I was a mod (but then I've been one since 2004...)
