How to maintain IFR skills ? Which flight sim do you use ? Elite, Asa, MSFS ?

Hi,

I've completed the JAA CPL ME/IR with (f)ATPL course and I would like to maintain my IFR skills flying on my personal computer at home (it's cheaper).

My wish is to fly a light twin propeler engine (Cessna C310 for instance) and a B737 as well to maintain my skills on that airplane and get used to higher approach speeds (after MCC completed).

Is it possible and well done with one of Elite's products (ELITE Simulation Solutions - The PCATD Leader) ? Anyone has tried that before ? Any opinion ?

And what about ASA ? On-Top: ASA: Home Page ?

Is Microsoft Flight Simulator good enough ? (I would doubt that but truly I never used it).

Thanks a lot for your advices,
Emmanuel.

OnTop is a bit precious - good for instrument failures but a bugger to configure; I found IP Trainer to be better.

RANT is good for spatial awareness and practice.

Never Get Lost by Willhem Tanner is an excellent book that gives an interesting alternative to mental maths. in the cockpit - I found it to be a more intuitive approach to instrument Nav. Do not get the software - IMO it is inferior to RANT.

I have the ASA offerings spare (for a consideration!) as I now have access to aFrasca beastie if you want to buy at a knock down price... if so, PM me.
