Changing recorded TV display name in Windows Media Center

No joy with this on any of the dedicated Windows Media Center websites, but I ask here anyway given the vast depth of knowledge that exists around our virtual table:

Does a utility or plug-in exist to change the display name of TV programs recorded via XP SP3 Media Center Edition 2005?

From what I have been able to find, the program name is held as metadata within the file for which only a clunky and laborious command line editing tool exists. What I am after is a GUI interface that allows me to easily edit recorded program names - ideally within MCE itself - even if in fact it is the same command tool behind the GUI.

The reason for wanting to do this is because when recording a series each episode carries the same name so it is a matter of trial and error to find the one that you want to watch. I have already installed the tweak tool that allows the format of the Windows file name to be created as something more useful (and of course it can be edited afterwards anyway), but for a true Media Center experience I want to navigate files and open them without first popping out to Windows to find the one I want.
