Board problem?

Hi guys I'm guessing there's simple solution to this that I haven't found yet. When I log on to the site all looks fine but areas that I have chosen to collapse no longer show an icon to expand that particular area(not that it ever worked ime). When I enter any particular thread all icons have been replaced by text. When I look at the individual posts, everything seems to be hunky-dorey. If I try to post, like now, everything is just a mish-mash of text - no graphics. Is it me (or more accurately, my computers - yes plural) I guess that it's me since nobody else is complaining so, any thoughts? (BTW I can "see" other VB sites OK) Hey - guess what - my paragraphs have disappeared hence monoblock text.

90% of problems are resolved when you clear all cookies from PPRuNe, delete all browser cache objects from PPRuNe.

This may of course be in the 10%...

Thank you for the suggestion. I have just tried this and nothing seems to give. It happens in both Firefix and Explorer and I feel it is something to do with the site or my settings on it. I have noticed that when I tweaked a few things a short while ago, I am now told how many posts I have in a certain thread which never used to happen. Before this, everything appeared to be ok. Any ideas?

Your settings on the site are held in your cookie....hence the need to delete them. If you've done this and the problem still exists, maybe they're not being cleared properly?

Your settings on the site are held in your cookie.
Well, not necessarily....theoretically, in a correct implementation, the cookie should be a reference key for use against database lookups. Thus trashing your cookie won't do anything to the database content.

But I digress...

Obviously part of the 10%. :-( Further research suggests that this may be connected to Firefox and/or Comodo - at least, this has been happening for some folk with these progs on some vBulletin sites for several years. Unfortunately, I've found no cure yet. Frankly, it's such a PITA that I'm visiting this site less and less ...

My guess is that it's a common piece of software across your multiple computers that is causing this.

You could try it in a VM or a fresh install of your preferred OS, and take it from there?

This site never did what you have experienced under Firefox and Comodo, so i reckon it's something else like a setting you have to change.

Can't help you there, can't replicate the problem.

I've been using Firefox nearly as long as I've been using PPRuNe and never had any problems with this site, or any other VB site for that matter.

I'll second that comment. Infact I'm posting this reply in Firefox.

I have also been using this site for as long as I have been using Firefox and never had a problem until now. I don't seem to have the problem on my phone's browser and am able to use all editing features there so believe it must be something on my computer. Explorer does the same thing. Still working hard to get this sorted. Any suggestions are welcome!!

If you are using Windows XP or later and have System Restore Points enabled, try going back to one before the problem first occurred.

What patches and / or applications have you installed since then? Checked for malware & viruses?

You haven't changed the editor to 'basic' have you? Nope (just checked!) Haven't knowingly changed anything, anywhere! I tried logging out and the site was then pretty much back to normal - not 100% though. No "go to 1st post" icon for instance. On logging in again, once I had passed the anti-bot screen, I was back to the usual mish-mash. As I type this, there are no icons above this box, just text. E.g. "Bold" "Italic" "Underline" etc. I don't really think it's my firewall or Firefox as I don't have this experience anywhere else. There's another VB site I use even more frequently and have no problems. C'est la technologie! (sigh)

Now this is interesting ....I'm trying a computer which so far as I know has never accessed this site. All seems to be hunky-dory!

Everything in its place just where it should be.

So, not a site problem and not browser or firewall (as they're identical on this one too).

Paragraphs and other features too!!

Back on the computer which was originally giving problems and all sees fine in the garden today. When I logged in, I didn't see the anti-bot screen but that may not be of relevance.

Anyway, not intending to log out anytime soon!

Same here, after yesterday everything seems to be fine again now. I logged on early in the morning a day or two ago and the site was down for maintenance. After this everything has been fine

I claim full credit.

It was me that fixed it!

Actually I think that the database update cleared a lot of cr@p and fixed some niggling problems.

Created a few others though (that I will claim to have fixed shortly).

I'm stumped

Hi guys

I've been following this thread because my system is doing some strange things.

I have just deleted all Internet Browsing History and Deleted all cookies and rebooted.
When I log on I am not getting the Anti Bot Screen at all - it just logs me in.
In D&G photos thread I cannot get past Page 413 - there are about 4 more pages
On other threads everything seems to be working normally
When I log out I use the log out button and get the All Cookies cleared message,
I'm using Windows 7 and IE8.
Any clues? I really would like to see the rest of the photos!
Cheers
BB
