Cleaning/clearing a Blackberry Pearl

I have got myself a Samsung GT8500. Now I want to get rid of my Blackberry but I cannot find a way of clearing it - things like contacts, messages, logs etc., clearing in general. Removing the sim card doesn't do much at all.

Anyone any ideas please?

Surely it can be connected to the PC so you can use the software that should come with the Blackberry to do all sorts of things like manage/delete everything..........

Googling "blackberry pearl reset" slightly faster than everyone else, first result gives:

On your BlackBerry Pearl, go to Options
Select Security Options
Select General Settings
Press the button located left of the trackball
Finally, select Wipe Handheld
