Power Management

Merry Christmas to you all. I have a desktop with windows 7 installed and want to change the power settings. I have gone to control panel/power options/ choose when to turn off display & change when the the computer sleeps, and set them to 30mins and 60 mins respectively. However the computer and display still stay on permanently. Am I doing something wrong or missing something?

Merry Christmas to you too

didn't like to see your post all lonely without a reply. Not really sure but have you trawled through the bios options to see what you've set there ? There's usually a tab for power management.

The monitor and sleep settings work for me Special Limitation. You did click on the 'save settings' button after setting the parameters didn't you?

Sometimes some installed programs interfere with the relevant sleep/power functions of the OS, as they report to the OS that they're being interfaced with (or that the OS shouldn't really sleep). You may have one of these installed?

Hi Guys I have just been into the BIOS and it shows ACPI suspend type - S1&S3 and APIC support enabled. Every thing else seems normal and the 'change' box is greyed out. As for the programmes that may affect it I dont know where to start!
