When I access YouTube.

I get a 'bogging-down' of other computer activities (and inability to stop/control the YouTube clip) and (sometimes) the following message:-
A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.
Script: https://js2.wxlrs.com/_D/F$Live.SiteContent.Messenger/4.2.59120/release/Microsoft.Liv.Core.LocalStorage.FF.js:39
First of all, what is initiating this (has my computer been infiltrated by some fiendish programme from Microshaft?) and what can I do to eliminate this annoyance?

I do so hate it when things happen outwith my control . . .

I'm running Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2.
(and Firefox 3.6.13)

It's a script trying to run when you hit youtube. Simplest thing to do would be download & install Adblock plus (just search for it in your FF Tools/Addons tab).

Next simplest thing would be to install noscript, but plenty of people on PPrune use Adblock to keep the banner ads from clogging up the screen. it will fix your problem.

But if you really are going to watch the clip then why not download it and be done with it? Costs you no more bandwidth or download quota.

And you can watch it over and over at no extra cost.

Plenty of ways to D/L from Youtube - initiate the D/L then go and browse elsewhere untroubled by Ads or popups etc

Slightly off topic but I have trouble with some movies on the
YouTube site - some will play and others just remain a blank
black movie screen.

I run XP and Firefox 3.6.3 with Java enabled. Have tried the
same YT urls with Explorer and Opera and still get the same
result.

I don't know if I perhaps might be updating Java the wrong
way. I allow HTTP on Peerblock and allow Norton to make the
necessary internet connections. In any case Java always says
the update was successful.

As mentioned its only with some clips that I get this problem.
Any advice very much appreciated.

Latest FireFox is 3.6.13 suggest you update it, (help>updates) it might help.

Other thought is to banish the ceiling cat to the garden.

Upgraded to 3.6.13 green but still no joy. Same with Flashplayer.

Anyone?

PS: Ceiling Cat would have to compete with Garden Cat who hides in the bushes in case one "tries it" outdoors....

Hi there, is the above only available for FF, I'm using I.E.7 with Win XP SP2 and a search as described above drew a blank.
Thanks in anticipation.

AdBlock is an add-on for Firefox only, but IE7Pro does the same job for IE7 (&8).

I've applied the suggested fixes, but I'm still getting a 'loss of control' when running videos (not only Youtube) - I'm unable to adjust volume or pause (so I have to close the window if I want to alter things).
I'm not getting the messages about the scripts (but maybe that's because I ticked the window that 'gives permission' to whatever the question was).

gg,

Go to control panel>java then select the update tab and follow instructions.
Original poster was discussing a JavaScript error.

Updating Java will have no effect on JavaScript.

The Java software deals with compiled Java (i.e. applets etc.).

JavaScript is dealt with internally by the web browser.

Therefore, the correct suggestion from you would have been to tell the poster to update his web browser (firefox or windows updates for IE).

Sorry to be pedantic.

See here.

Despite the title, the one entitled "Downloading videos (not youtube) " might be worth a glance amongst the others.
