ammyy.com scam
Just had an interesting phone call from a subcontinental sounding gent saying he was getting reports by email that my pc was running slow and he was here to help. Nothing wrong with the address he was giving out but doing what he asked would install remote control software on the PC.
His name, John Smith. Bit unlikely I thought.
What a hoot but best warn the family.

Now THAT was very interesting!
Direct, peer to peer social engineering. VERY slick.. on so many levels.
Whose computer is NOT "running slow?"
With "spoofmycall.com" services, you can also make your originating number appear to be that of any legitimate established company.
Troubling indeed.

slick up to a point
John Smith ? Googling around shows that this has been going on for a while. A technophobe OAP could easily get caught out I would think.
