Grrr Adobe Plug-In not working

Hiya Ppruners!

I have a problem with Adobe's Acrobat Plug-in. When I try to view a pdf document using Firefox or Opera I get an error message that the plug-in is not working and that I'll have to re-install it. With IE I have no problem at all (although I don't like using it). Adobe Acrobat as a stand-alone program works fine and I usually keep it up to date.

How do you de-install and re-install the Adobe plug-in? Is it separate for each browser or is the plug-in hidden under Control Panel/Programs and Features? I am using Windows Vista (I know, I know ...)

Just download Foxit reader and use that instead, much better.

Foxit Software - Foxit Reader 4.1 for Windows

Seconded!

Adobe bloatware is ridiculous, the size it has become for a PDF reader is bizarre.

Question

I agree with you that Adobe Reader is overblown, but how do I get a plug-in pdf viewer for Firefox or Opera?
