Deleting files from a "stick"

I have deleted some files from a USB stick by accident. Where do they go to? Are they recoverable?

Have a search in google there are some free programs that can do that providing the files haven't been overwritten by further work that you've done on that pen.

From the same stable as CCleaner.

Two versions HERE including a portable version (second down).

Works well; similar problem with a USB Flash Drive recently.
Navigate back to the 'stick' drive letter and scan. Highlight required items and right-click for recovery options.
