Sound problem with Skype & MSM
I was using the above programs last night for video calls and seem to have an odd sound issue
ACER Aspire1 netbook, Windows XP, WiFi connected
In both conversations the person at the other end could see & hear me, I could see them but had no audio.
Tried an Echo test on Skype and it worked fine
The other person had used Skype earlier in the evening with no problem.
I've checked all the sound settings and all volumes are up with nothing muted
Any suggestions?

My family are very regular users of one of those communication systems. (I'm trying not to make it sound like an advert). Sometimes if the internet connection on the other persons system is too slow we get the scenario that you discribe. I've had conversations with my step brother in Brazil where I speak to him and he types back to me which can be quite weard at times. If you try to do away with the vidio and just use sound, less bandwidth is used on the internet connection which may help if the connection at either end is poor. Hope that makes sense.
p.s. Has the other user checked his/her settings?

Ad C,yes it does
I was sort of wondering if a sound only call would work - must do some testing!

Interestingly I've been looking at my connection speed which is varying between 1 & 1.5 Mps this evening - this is against a nominal 8, think I'll talk to my ISP
