Pictures Lost in Computer

I am using Windows XP. Via Control Panel and Displays, I have set up the Screen Saver to be My Pictures Slideshow.
There are some pictures on it that I took in 2006, but when I go to My Pictures they are not there. Presumably they are in some hidden folder somewhere on the computer.
Any idea of how I can get access to them ???

When all else has failed '*.jpg' search in explorer will find them, along with a huge amount of totally irrelevant dross.

Download Picasa (free) - it will find and catalogue all images on your PC.

Thanks for the advice, did as suggested and found the pictures that I wanted, amidst some 10574 others.
