How do I convert an .MOV file.

Hi all just bought a budget camcorder that saves its filming to .MOV,

My editing software doesn't support .MOV, its Ulead 10 I think it is and is a few years old,

Does this mean I have to buy some upto date editing software or is there another way without loosing quality.

Nick.

If editing directly in MOV causes problems, you might want to convert your files into another format. This, of course, may result in loss of quality.

While I haven't used an up-to-date converter myself for quite some time now, there are various good ones available as freeware. Check, e.g., here for mov to avi converters:
Download mov zu avi freeware

I seem to remember a freeware tool called Super(C) which I used successfully to convert audio files. It also converts video formats.

The (free) Format Factory might well do the job for you.

I have Super, but I found it fails rather too often on what I throw at it.

I use this as a an alternative to Media Player but it also does file conversions.

And it's free.

As usual 'spanners' comes up with a goody. That's the one I use and it spot on - and it will do much more than it says on the tin!
