Xp SP3 safe mode boot
Machine is taking an age to boot into safe. It hangs after loading btkrnl.sys
This is the relevant section of the bootlog for a 'normal' bootup
Mup.sys
Loaded driver btkrnl.sys
Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\tunmp.sys
Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\AmdPPM.sys
Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\usbohci.sys
Do I assume it is tunmp.sys that is causing the hang? I was able to shave this am while it dragged over this point. I have scanned tunmp.sys with MBAM as I see it can be corrupted by a nasty, but is is clean. I cannot see an obvious service connected with tunnnelling. Any ideas on what I can 'kill' as an experiment?

"usbohci.sys" unless it's slowed before that point. The last thing on the list is always what has been loaded into the system so unless the issue is with what gets loaded in after usbohci.sys then I would start there

Remove bluetooth, btkrnl.sys is the bluetooth driver so if it is corrupt that would explain the slowdown.
Reinstall with updated drivers if necessary

Done the dirty on the bluetooth - I had seen the link, but my safeboot only stagnated and did not stop as in the link. We'll see when I next try safe mode. Thanks for help.
