It's Microsoft powerpoint, mostly used to create arse achingly dull business presentations in the form of slide shows. What your nephew is probably sending you is highly amusing slideshows of scantily clad ladies having soap bubble fights in car washes or drunk Russian people falling over or similar.

You're really not missing much.

If you don't have PowerPoint on your computer, you can download a viewer from Microsoft: Download details: PowerPoint Viewer 2007

That's spooky, it were indeed drunk folks falling over but they weren't Russian, Americanos one reckons from the fatness of the attending members of the constabulary.

They're also likely attack vectors (nowadays mainly via any embedded or linked Flash content) for diverse botnet/spyware software.

Probably better off canning that crap, just in case.

You're lucky, Drapes - I tend to only get
arse achingly dull business presentations
As LH2 has quite correctly pointed out, PPS files are increasingly becoming the vehicle for some rather nasty viruses/ malware/ spyware.
A particularly nasty one masquerades as a "funny Star Trek clip".
Do NOT open this - Bin it & delete it. It will infect virtually every file it can on your PC, and then it steals your passwords.

Change the file ext to .PPT and open with PowerPoint, then you can look at the content without running the slide show. This also enables you to view the speakers notes and possibly the author (Files, Properties).
