Try using 67.201.16.181 instead of www.pprune.org and see if that helps. If it does then there is a DNS problem.
Or it might have something to do with the recent 3Hr outage.

IB have made some announcements about a site outage due to cyber-attacks.
The announcements seem to have been taken down now.
There is a known problem with access from Australia - it is possible this is related to the cyber-attacks.
IB are aware of it and are (presumably) working to resolve the problem.

Maybe coincidental but has similar problems last 3 days. Tried everything. Only recovered this past hour after System Restore which removed last batch of MS upgrades of 11/11/09? As stated, maybe purly coincidental.

All the IB forums were down in Aus and NZ from Sat night (our time) until about an hour ago (nightmare when you're a moderator and have no idea whats happening on your site!)

Interesting that some here in Victoria, (Australia), are now able to connect, I am about 100kms East of the CBD and still can't connect directly, currently using a USA based server.

I don't have any insider knowledge, but I'll take an educated guess ....
The reason why Asia Pacific visitors are having difficulty might be down to the fact that PPRuNe (or perhaps rather the network on which it is located) was targetted by a bot-net attack, hence making the exact source difficult to pin down, leaving the techies with no option but to tarnish the Asia Pacific region with the same brush.
What's likely happening now is they are slowly repainting the Asia Pacific world and re-opening acccess bit by bit.
As I said, just a guess....

Thanks Tailstrike Charlie and Mixture, I can connect through the 'alternative method' but am happy to say that as of now, 11.00GMT we seem to be back to normal. If nothing else it teaches us all how to get around the odd problem! Thanks agian.
