2 Monitors

Hi Everyone,
I've got an HP Mini Notebook Computer.
It has a port for a second monitor but I can't get it to run.
I've managed to get the desktop background to show but I can't get anything else to show on the second monitor.
They appear to be set up as side by side ie: If I move the mouse cursor to the right on the laptop screen it will popup on the left of the second monitor but I can't use the second monitor as a primary monitor.
I know there will be some really really simple way to make this happen so I throw myself upon the mercy of the pprune gurus. I'm running Windows XP

Many Thanks

Richard Kinloch

Right click on the desktop
Select properties from the drop down menu
The settings tab has the where-with-all for 2 monitor operation including relative location etc etc

Hope this helps

As bsmasher has pointed out...

Right click on the desktop and go to properites...

Go click on the icon showing monitor 2 and check the box that says this is my main monitor.

Then accept, your taskbar etc should move to your external monitor now and your laptop screen will become your second screen.

It is handy to keep your desktop stretched across two screens so you can see two maximised windows at once - to get a window onto your secondary screen just drag it across into the second screen and when you maximise it there it will maximise within that screen.

GreenGranite,

Not sure what a demo of Photoshop 7 has to do with the dual monitor problem - a miss post/cut and paste error maybe ?
