Reliable email service?
Following the problems with PPRuNe Email I changed to another email service. I did try Gmail and Hotmail but found problems with both. I eventually decided to use Yahoo.ca’s email service. It has been acceptable up until this week. Now I am unable to access my Yahoo email account. Yahoo wants intrusive private information, which I am unwilling to provide in these days of privacy problems. No wonder it is losing market share and being involved in failed take overs and mergers! Has anyone else had this problem with Yahoo email? Is there any responsible contact at Yahoo who will solve the problems?
Is there an alternative email service with worldwide access suitable for use by a pilot? I want one that is reliable and does not have this antagonistic and obstructive attitude towards its users. I do not like having to change again but it looks as if this will be necessary if Yahoo will not get its act together.
In the meantime, users are advised to avoid Yahoo.

No problems here either with Gmail. Whilst it has an irritation with not being able to select your own default font, it's reliable and I rather like the labelling system.

I am not a fan of Gmail, I don't like the web interface or the way that you have to manually delete the emails as Outlook/Express won't delete them even if you set it to do so.
That said, I have a gmail account and it seems to be 100% reliable compared to my other email provider (Btinternet) and as for Telkomsa, they're a joke. Hotmail attracts too much spam and scams, and again Gmail's filtering is the best.
If I didn't have my existing Btinternet accounts and were setting up from scratch, I'd go for Gmail. The only problem is that I use it professionally and some clients might think that a 'freemail' account doesn't look very professional.

I've been using Hotmail for over ten years and never had a problem with it. What problems have you encountered with it?

Handy when you have 3-4 addresses to monitor.

I wasn't aware of that, thank you. I'll have to ask my IT department to look into that for me, but he's still asleep, being a typical 13 year old in school holidays!

Name.com - Domain Name Registration will allow you to buy a domain and add GoogleApps to it free of charge, it's what I usually do.

Another free service which has proven useful and reliable is here:
Get a Free Email Address - Create a Free Email Account - Topmail
I have no association with them apart from being a satisfied customer.

Psychophysiological entity
A pal of mine, who has been protected from the outer world by bigfoot for eons, has just changed to a goog-oil mail address. I'll have to ask him why next time we Skype. Knowing him, it would have to make a lot of sense.
I use Yahoo mail and have found them pretty good, the SBC connection perhaps helps, as I'm a paying customer for the latter's broadband service. Indeed, the Yahoo bit just comes as standard.
They recently changed my modem/router free of charge, it was waaaaaaaay out of guarantee.
Having said that, I hate having to type sbcglobal.net after my monica. Why not just sbc ?

Being a simple lad, I just use 2, both of which have been, so far, reliable and I can get at them from most places. For family/work, btinternet.com, and for those buggars that I don't really want to hear from, googlemail.com.
