Connecting laptop to TV

How can I connect my(slightly older) Sony laptop, to my (quite new) flat screen TV, to use the TV as a monitor to watch movies? No HDMI outputs from the laptop.

I doubt the TV has only HDMI - though I wouldn't put that past Sony. Does the TV have a 15-pin VGA input? That's what I'm doing, it works great if you match the resolution to the screen.

You can buy VGA to HDMI leads from any good AV outlet....You will need to connect the sound with a seperate lead...Normaly a 3.5mm jack to jack cable....running from the head phone socket of your laptop to the input at the rear of the TV...
Go to Maplins if you have one nearby...They are very helpful....

Most LCD's will have a VGA input, and either HDMI or DVI.

So, VGA to VGA cable should do the trick.

This will only do visual, as said, get a 3.5mm jack to 2phono/rca to connect sound from laptop to screen.
