Media Player for Linux on Eee PC 900

I have read a lot of these threads and really appreciate your knowledge and time given to answering bifters like me.....

So here goes.

Can anyone advise me about a compatible media player or attachment to enable live streaming or download from ???? 'Catch Up' facility. This is for EeePC 900 with a Linux OS.
I have Googled and searched and only discovered 'Silverlight' which seems to have a dubious reputation according to the discussion fora.
Interestingly enough, I can play bbc i-player without problem but one has to keep up with some ITV stuff when down route. Downloading to watch when holed up in a hotel room would be handy.

I'm sorry I can't help you directly with this, but have you tried the eeepc forum website? They have been pretty good in giving answers about my 700 linux eeepc.
