Your New AT&T Internet Security Suite
Dear AT&T Customer,
Your AT&T Yahoo! Internet Security Suite will expire within 30 days receipt of this email notification. In order to protect your computer you will need to update your computer security software by downloading the free AT&T Internet Security Suite powered by McAfee®.
If you do not take action, within 30 days, you will receive a pop-up message from Computer Associates® informing you that your anti-virus software has expired, and they will invite you to purchase their retail product.
AT&T Internet Security Suite powered by McAfee® prevents malicious activity from happening to your PC. This security service offers anti-virus, anti-spy ware and a firewall to protect what you value.
Reminder: Do not forget to ensure that all PC's in your home are upgraded!

Step 4 – Read and accept the End User License Agreement, and follow the prompts to complete your install.
Notice: It is not necessary to manually remove your existing Yahoo! Online Protection, the installation will automatically remove it.

I may (?) be getting old and untrustworthy - but step 2 tells me "NO!!" and step 3 makes me wonder why they would send you the instructions in English on how to access a page in Spanish - which also tells me "NO!!".
I'm an AT&T unhappy customer, too, and I haven't received the message.
Have you done any sort of search on the return e-mail address or the IP of the inbound message?

AOL used to get you to login with prime user account details.
They are telling you to go to the main att website, so cant see why it would be wrong.
If in doubt, att have a phone number, give them a call.

They're getting cleverer. Some of the scams almost look credible.
Don't click on the link - go to the genuine site (you know the address!) and look to see what's there.
I have a nifty Firefox anti-scammer plugin that tells me if a site is kosher or not. It thinks the ATT one in your link above (with att.net in it) is OK.

att.com certainly looks genuine, I been on the site and it has all the links you would expect and when you google "att" you can guess that "att.com" is at the very top telling you that it is AT&T.
The link in the mail seems to check out too, so it's probable that the "instructions" are genuine.

The link takes you to aat.net not com. I would be very suspicious (im another old untrusting bugger when it comes to this stuff).

try with a bogus login on a spare puter and see wot happens.

One will have to have a few quiet moments to think this through, One has been, as always, preoccupied with 'projects'.
A door from the garage entered into the dining area, and thinks I, wouldn't it be good if it opened into the back lobby? Door in in no time, but then came the wiring. We've had threads on JB about American wiring, but why, Oh why, do they have to do even the lighting circuits, in 12 gauge wire? They allow 14 gauge on lighting, but no, they used steel girders. Then the 'code' requires 8" of tails in the outlet box. Six lots of 8" steel girders to be stuffed - safely - into a box is enough to try the patience of a saint.
Phew! feel a little better now.
I'll certainly give them a call if all is not completely safe. I don't ever recall having to do anything like this before, and we've been with the provider so long that they've just replaced my router (two Wire) for free cos I'm a good customer. That's how long.
Twas funny, I'd just finished thinking that some of you had such bad luck with things going Bang! and then me router died. Big red light on. Opened it up, but the electronics are microscopic. It's in a box, waiting for one of those inspired moments.
