Remember me box

Wonder if anyone can offer a solution for this.

At Sign in the "Remember me" box does not work for me.

Not just on this forum, but on all 7 forums I belong to.

Similar thing on Hotmail. Remember password box does not work.

I have tried storing cookies and tried clearing cookies.

Did a Google search for the problem. Never got an answer, but loads of folk have the same trouble.

WXP, IE7, AVG anti virus/spyware, Zone Alarm firewall.

Thanks in advance.

In Firefox on the top toolbar, it's:
Tools - Options - Security - Remember passwords for sites.
Maybe IE has similar.

Does not seem to be Stevef

I tried disabling my firewall, but that makes no difference either.

It intrigued me. Thought perhaps it was something to do with 'Autocomplete' so I did a search and came up with this:
Internet Explorer on Windows XP doesn't save password - Scott Forsyth's Blog
Might help.

I suggest installing another browser (temporarily), such as Firefox or Opera, with default settings.

If the same problem occurs then it's more likely than not external to whatever browser you use - could be firewall or other security settings in OS or 3rd party programs.

If the problem doesn't occur, then it must be a setting within IE 7. You could then try removing and reinstalling with default settings.

Also if you have some IE plugins to eliminate ads you could try removing them, to try to return to "default" IE7 installation.

Thanks again folks.

I have cookies enabled and I have tried clearing cookies and I have tried storing the relevant cookies.
I'll try resetting IE to default settings.

Getting a feeling that there will be some remote registry setting at the root of this.

Make sure AVG is not doing a delete on cookies, like mine does.

Like said, IE is not the best browser, try FireFox.

Is AVG deleting your cookies as a matter of course or only when you do a scan?

I run CCleaner ute. and have it set to keep the cookies I need, such as Pprune.
Comments about Firefox well noted. I had often read about it being superior
