Rotating a MP4

I recorded some video on my phone, the shot had to be vertical in order to make it work. When I now play it on RealPlayer (Or anything else) the shot is horizontal. I want to upload this to YouTube, but it will look ridiculous in the horizontal.

Can anyone recommend software (ideally free) that i can use to rotate a MP4?

Thanks

VirtualDub: (Free - open source).

Software:
VirtualDub download (at SourceForge) - virtualdub.org

Documentation and program forums:

Welcome to virtualdub.org! - virtualdub.org

1) Download and install VirtualDub from the website indicated above.
2) Run the program and open your video into the program.
3) Go to Video under the menu and click Full Processing Mode.
4) Press Ctrl-F (or go to Video->Filters) to open the Filters Dialogue box.
5) Click Add and choose Rotate from the filters shown. You will have
the option then to choose how you wish to rotate the video.
6) Click OK to get back to the main VirtualDub program window. You
may now do any further editing you require to the video using the
program.
7) To rotate the video you should now save the video as a new file and
the process will begin. Please note that this may take some time
depending on the speed of your PC and what further options you have
chosen.

You may need to download and install an MP4 codec, if you don't already have one.

You'll have to try very, very hard to find video transcoding software which gets anywhere remotely near Virtualdub. It's small, lean, fast, open-source, and utterly destroys many commercial solutions costing thousands of pounds.

Make no mistake, it's not a full-blown non-linear editor (it was never intended as such), but to convert video A to video B it's second to none.

VirtualDub wouldnt recognize the MP4 file even after i downloaded additional CODECS from MS, but the free software listed by terrain safe rotated it easily.

Thanks for the help.

Jolly good. For future reference, you just need the mp4 plugin: http://www.tateu.net/software/dl.php?f=qtvd_bin

Saying mp4 is like saying "car". It's a wrapper format, the actual codec could be one of many different video formats.
