Thanks for your 2 imputs, I am aware of of the one on EBAY. My drive has gone, and I only use it for one application. Had the machine from new,and yes you can still obtain discs, although I still have a few.

Aha - the Joyce - such a nice thingy!

If you miss the ebay sale there is always the possibility of "upgrading" to 3½" : Mounting a 3.5" disc drive to to PCW

One got one of those when they were new. Twas funny. Twas also too bright. (New) computer magazine suggested putting a woman's stocking over the thing to save your eyes!! This is where I can justifiably write LOL.

I took it to bits and neatly soldered a resistor in series with the brightness control. The range was now normal.

We sat at this machine for a few days till the Rivetess said, Let's take this @$^ thing back. The File management was about the only good thing about the whole system. A pre-courser to X-Tree perhaps.

I took the whole shebang back to the curry shop and got me money back. Some lucky soul had his eyeballs saved by my efforts.

Nope. The foreign character set coverage was well ahead of its time too - it was the only word processor on which you could write Welsh, for example, which gave it a niche market with academics.

(Built by some mates of mine.)

I wrote my dissertation on one of them! Come to think of it, I did my whole degree on one.

I used to look forward to finishing I.T. lectures so I could come home & fire up a decent word processor...
