Bookmarks how to delete same?

Just looking at me bookmarks, one has a habit of bookmarking websites ergo one's bookmarks folder is stuffed to the gills with links to sites I probably wont ever visit again, how does one go about deleting individual links from book marks? I have tried to organise them into separate folders ie music, local history nautical sites ect but this is not easy when you have about 200 in there.
One is running Mozilla Firefox on XP Pro

Use "organize bookmarks" in the bookmarks menu which makes things easy to move them about, just right click and select delete, or you can do it while scrolling through them normally using the same method.

I'm using Firefox, but on a mac, it's under Bookmarks, organise bookmarks. Then just select the one you want and delete.

You can, if you wish, just right click any link from your bookmark lists and select "delete" from the drop-down menu. But as green granite has suggested it's better to completely re-organise things via the "Organise Bookmarks" option. You can move them up and down by drag & drop with this function to get them in the order you want.
There is a handy little "Add on" called "Moz Backup" from the Mozilla site which will make a complete backup of your book marks, and also your Email contacts. Handy if you ever have to reinstall.

Tony, Right-click, not single click!

Else re-program your mouse

Else replace it.

While in this area, does anyone know if the History layout has changed on FF? It used to show all history laid out on dates/days ago, if you wanted, but that just seems to have vanished.

I know you can get to a date by the files system, but it doesn't help if One is just guessing at 'About 3 days ago.' unless you go through to the column and cause it to sort them. Rather a lot of processes, when just wanting a quick look.

There is a handy little "Add on" called "Moz Backup" from the Mozilla site
That's answered another question, thanks.

Or you can use Foxmarks https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2410

If you use Firefox on more than one computer, you'll want Foxmarks. Install Foxmarks on each computer, and it works silently in the background to keep your bookmarks and (optionally) passwords synchronized. Foxmarks also keeps your data backed up and safe from computer failures. If you're away from your computer, Foxmarks allows you to access your bookmarks online by logging into my.foxmarks.com.

I never use it, but assuming it's still showing in the toolbar at the top of screen just click on it and select "Show in Sidebar" or press Ctrl + H. and it should appear in tree view on the LHD side. There's a "View" button to further customise the display.

Think there's now a seperate button to delve further than very recent history - opens in a new pane.

Just had another look to make quite sure I'm not dreaming, but there are no more buttons to press to get the old side-bar layout.

If I remember correctly, it said something like One day ago, Two days.....etc., Sooooooooo handy.

I can only assume that it went upon upgrading FF.

A handy add-on called bookmark duplicate detector will also help to whittle down the amount of bookmarks you have.

You can add it manually, View>Toolbars>Customise, then drag the history button to the toolbar.
