Is there a way to copy a PDF file and still keep its formatting (eg columns)?

pdftotext -layout file.pdf

Dunno if a windoze version of pdftotext is available.

depends ..where are you copying to..
usually, MS office application will NOT accept the PDF formatting.
saving as -as stated above- should solve the problem
