Question The Next One.

Lovebug is history, except some of us are still having to deal with its consequences.
It will be interesting to see how the judiciary deals with the lovebugs - not off to a promising start I think.

The virus makers have all read the news and known the impact.

They aren't going away. The challenge is always there. They will always be out there.

The next target would logically be to:
1)Bypass all the active,reactionary safeguards.
2)Infiltrate a more deceptive, more powerful, more destructive virus/worm/trojan.
3) Make bigger headlines = increase damage.

This has been the history of viruses.

Apparently there is no defense possible until it happens.

Is this the way it's got to be?

Do we have any good hackers here? What we really need is an anti-virus program that fights back. Our own immune system fights dirty; we need a program that identifies a virus (Like Norton) traces back to the originator (Samspade)and then terminates the author's CPU permanently

Let's make virus writing dangerous!!

Or even better Blacksheep, a countermeasures program as per William Gibson's Neuromancer which traces back to the originator and fries the author's brain.

I wonder how many users of the Black Ice firewall bought it hoping it would do a little more?
