Question Have I got a Virus?

My computer has recently started showing a file called 'index.dat' In the cookies. It appears to be linked to the fact that every time I put a floppy in the A/ drive, the machine automatically copies a 'temp internet file' onto it. The computer now will not run unless there is a disk in the A/ drive. I've tried to delete the index file but it will not allow me to do so.
Can anybody advise.
Ta.

overwing,

spooky, but I think and hope no virus.

Suggest you check your IE Temporary Files settings as follows:

Tools/Internet Options/General/Temporary Files-settings/

Check the Temporary Internet Files Setting (Its hard to see 'cos its in small black font on grey and doesn't leap off the page.

You may find it is looking for the a: drive. If it isn't something like CTemporary Internet Files\, then click on Move Folder and make the destination a suitable folder on your hard disk.

Come back if that doesn't fix it.

Cheers, fob
