Post Homepage & Favourites

I am running IE5.5 and have noticed that some websites have added their URL to my favourites and have sometimes changed my homepage to their URL. How can I prevent this from happening without drasticaly incresing the security settings on IE?

Well you're a naughty boy for visiting those sites in the first place
It is a security matter - you'll have to turn JavaScript off (or set it to prompt) to stop them. And while you're at it, disable desktop downloads as well - you never need to allow those.

(NB this is for IE4 which I run at home - think it's the same)
Options, Security, Settings, Custom, under Miscellaneous click disable for Installation of Desktop Items.

The quickest way I know is:

Firstly go to a site you want to use as an homepage (I use pprune mil forum).

Select Tools-Internet Options

Open the general tab. The first section allows you to set the home page - select 'use current'.

Presto! Every time you launch the IE browser that page will appear....until another site captures your homepage selection - but it takes seconds to sort once in the know.
