Desktop icons

For no reason I can think of, suddenly my desktop icons open on a white background with the Windows logo sitting proudly. They change after a while, but I cannot imagine what I have changed to make them appear as they do!
The usual way is for all my icons to represent what they are just as instantly as they appear.
Any ideas?

IFR....
This has happened to me on the rare occasion as well, although usually after I have had the particular program open. I am only guessing, but I think that something to do with the icon gets corrupted and hence the change to some sort of default. All I do is delete the changed icon then create a new one as before without any further problems.
Probably just one of the many quirks with Microsoft that goes on behind the scenes that we all have to live with, with the result of one going mad trying to figure it out.
I hope this helps.

Could be a corruption of display drivers, reinstall or update, it's also a symptom of low resouces/memory, check that out as well.
You could also refresh the screen using F5 and see if that helps.
