I have just registered a domain with uk2.net. An automatic e-mail was sent to my stated address, which indicates that my domain will be available within "24-48". Does this mean 24-48 hours? days? or what?
Assuming my stated e-mail address was [email protected] and my recently registered domain is ed.com, could I have a new e-mail as say [email protected]? If I sent an e-mail to [email protected] from a different address, would it arrive at [email protected]? If yes, how would it? I haven't registered the former "ed". Does this effect it?

I use Direct NIC to register mine (10+)
$15 a year, loads of free webspace, easy to use and play with.
Once you own the domain, you can set it up to forward 'anything'@natterjack.com to whatever e-mail address you like very easily so you can make yourself look like a huge corporation if you wish ie [email protected], [email protected] etc, you automatically own everything in front of the @ symbol (what is that thing called anyway?)
You can also set up your dmain URL to 'point' at any site you like ie they type in natterjack.com and it brings up whatever site you like, ie register a mates name as a domain and point it at a porn site, then blackmail him! (thats a joke but the possibilities are endless)hope this helps.

With UK2.net if you register a domain and then register an email account with them (using the same domain) then you can have people send emails to <anything>@natterjack.com. You can later specify within the options for your domain which 'real' email address you want this forwarded to. However you can only make it appear as though it came from ed@natterjack (or whatever) if you use a POP3 email account (the ones that open in 'Outlook Express') e.g. Netscapeonline, Demon, BT etc.
