Another little Internet Scam ...
Read a report the other day about a neat (?) Internet scam. Guy sends out ten thousand e-mails saying "Thankyou for your order for a Brand X PC and goodies. It will be shipped to you in two days at which stage your credit card will be debited. If you wish to query your order, please phone nnn nnn nnnn".
There is no order, the sender doesn't know your name, and doesn't know your credit card number. But the telephone call is chargeable back to you - so you get to pay for listening to muzack while you never get through to anyone. Account is somewhere murky where the authorities can't ascertain who it is.
The good news is that the authorities did manage to arrest someone. But if it has happened once, no doubt it could happen again. You have been warned!
