Unhappy Windows Service Layer MIF Instalation?

OK - What is it?

I "sort of" had to rebuild my computer from the rebuild disk, and now I get a new window (on start up) with this title - but I can't find any reference to it in the manuals : What is it? How do I remove it?

I don't think so. Everything else is working fine - this is just a window that starts up as though it were a program contained in the start up folder, but it isn't there - or it is hidden.

First of all, rebuild disk? From which program?
Secondly, check your autoexec.bat and your config.sys for any new entry, may be it is called from there.
If the window starts from within Windows, check your directory on drive C: for a tree which may be called WINDOWS UPDATE SETUP FILES or similar, Bill Gates likes these confusions.
If it is from within Windows, there may be an entry in the Registry which calls this file. In this case we have to search there.

Please keep us informed, we may be able to help.

one more thing, check with the Windows Explorer the following:

C:/Windows/Start Menu/StartUp

and see if there is a strange entry which calls that window to appear.
