New Firefox

Hi,
The latest Mozilla Firefox seems to show all the bookmarks in the navigation pane. Who the h*ll thought that was a good idea?
Anybody know how to get rid of this annoying "improvement"?

Right click in tool bar area, de-select "Bookmarks" Toolbar?

No, I'm not sure I'm making myself clear,
In the navigation pane, I used to get a list of previously visited sites.
If I used the "clear Private data" option, this used to clear this list, and just leave the homepage.
Now what is happening is that I'm getting the bookmark list appearing in here, and I cant get rid of it.

Are you confusing "history" with "bookmarks"?

Ctrl-b = bookmarks
Ctrl-h = history

History DOES disappear when you clear Private data, bookmarks don't.

Also, you can "organise" bookmarks to appear in the Bookmarks Toolbar, or not (default is not, to avoid clutter).

But it sounds like the toolbar is not your problem.

added:

There is no "navigation pane", but there is a navigation toolbar.

There is also Firefox online help & support

DC,

I think I understand the problem you describe. If so, you need the 'Hide Unvisited 3' extension found here. It worked for me.

Sometimes I'm surprised people make it onto the internet at all.

If you would rather not have Firefox display autocomplete results at all. This method does not work on Mac.
  1. In the Location bar, enter about:config
  2. Search for the preference browser.urlbar.maxRichResults.
  3. Double-click the browser.urlbar.maxRichResults preference and enter a value of -0.
  4. Close Firefox.
  5. Start Firefox again.
Now when you type in the Location bar, no list of results will be shown.
