Question Website transfer

My younger son has an art website at bizland.com which was free of charge.
They now wish to charge him $10 per month for webspace.
He tells me that it would be very difficult to transfer his site to another location.
Does anyone know if there's an easy way to transfer a website to another server?

Cool

I take it that he has his originally designed site safe on his hard drive?

Register with another free ISP: most give you 10 - 20 MB free space, and upload.

If he hasn't got his original files, then simply download them over the net.

Come back if you want more, or mail me.

Cheers.

Lightbulb

If your son does not have an original copy you can get software that shall make an exact copy of the site onto a local disk. This copy can then be easily posted to a different location.

If you need anymore help post back and I can email you.

BS.

You can use this to make a copy of your sons site (or any other) URL: http://www.otway.com/webreaper/

Talking

or you can use an FTP like terrapin http://www.tpin.com/eu/tpinftp/tpinftpsetoverintro.html which you can download and use free for a trial period - then pay 20 quid for a license if you like it.

This will allow your son to download the whole of his web and upload it to the new location.

If you do this, I suggest NOT allowing Trrapin to make "corrections" during upload if the site already works well.
