Question Windows 98 Problems

Help needed from the world's computer 'buffs'!. .. .1. In Windows 98 How do you make the icon appear that shows whether or not you are connected to the internet. (small computer screens)?. .. .2. How do you set up you PC to disconnect from the internet automatically when an incoming call is received?

Part 1.... .. .Right click on the task bar on the bottom of the screen, in the pop-up menu select PROPERTIES.. .in the new menu ckeck the box Show Clock.. .Click OK.. .Your connection will show beside the clock as soon as it is established.. .. .Part 2.... .. .What do you mean with an incoming call? A call from another PC or a telephone call on the same line?. .Most modems do not like the "KNOCK" function BT or other services offer when someone tries to call you on the phone. The modem normally disconnects and that would solve your problem.

Cool

Part 1:. .. .Showing the clock will do just that, the clock, not DUN connection.. .. .Open my computer (or whatever you may have renamed it). .. .Open dial up netowrking, select connections from the menu, then settings.. .Ensure "show an icon on taskbar after connected" is checked.

HFI - check out . .. .<a href="http://www.comtechproducts.co.uk/iacm4000.htm" target="_blank">http://www.comtechproducts.co.uk/iacm4000.htm</a> . .. .The IACM 4000 has an LCD display which shows the number calling. You can store info in its memory which will not only display the number, but also the name you have given to that number. It also bleeps when someone calls. You can then decide whether or not to take the call, thus breaking your internet connection by merely lifting the phone. . .. . <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" /> . .. .You need to subscribe to both BT Caller Display and BT Call Waiting services (a £5-something per quarter package). The caller gets a message telling him that you are aware someone is trying to call. If you ignore, he then gets the option to leave a message for you (1571). . .. .The call waiting service still works as normal when you are not on the net. . .. .I have had it for several months month now, and it has been a boon - I am on the net a lot and this gizmo has meant that I haven't missed any important calls.

RW-1...you are only partly correct. The Bill Gates software 98 is not!!!! always the same. I have here 3 different versions. And in one you have to activate the clock to have the Task Bar at all.... .. .FJJP...I was looking for this link...that is what I also recommend.
