DVD Writer/Player Zone locked in

Hello All
The DVD writer/player on my PC is locked in on a certain zone and will now only play DVDs from that zone. Makes no difference if I use MediaPlayer, Quicktime etc.
Any ideas on how to get around this?
Cheers

The Slysoft product AnyDVD will make most drives appear region-free. Drives that definitely won't work include anything by Matsu****a. Depending on your drive, you may be able to flash it to region-free.

It's a ms windows thing. Never know why this was introduced. After changing the region/zone (dvd) I think it's about four times or maybe a little more, it then locks to that region. One can get a 'code' from ms to unlock and start again.

ps. That's what it says in my HP user guide. Windows XP

It's a DVD drive thing: the drive will behave the same in any OS.

Not sure if I'm doing it right, but with the DVD Genie I still can't get it to work? Any ideas?

DVD Genie requires the drive itself to be region free. It won't help you.
