Webcams..
We have just been told my management that they are thinking of installing webcams that update every few minutes broadcast on the net.
What do you guys think of this? Is there an issue with privacy invasion here?

Depends what the cams are doing - if they're sending images of an office I can't see the issue. If they're sending images of the toilet then I think that over steps the mark.
What are you concerns?

I'm not personally too worried about the thought of it.. I work in an h24/7 dept which at weekends as you can imagine is rather too in your face.
Is this something that management should ask employee opinions on before doing it?

That's a subjective question. I know where I work that it would just be put up and we wouldn't be asked (we would be told), but then we do have 30+ cameras on this floor alone for CCTV.

Yeah fair enough.. Have to admit I'm interested to see what you can see when it's up and running (in terms of quality and how much of the office!). It's asking for jokes to be played on people!
Cheers.

My company has a webcam mounted in the cafeteria and is linked to the company intranet. It allows you to see from your desk how long the lunch queue is before making the journey to the cafeteria!!!
