SSH users?
I'm currently helping my friend upgrade a website he's had going for a while now. And everything is looking really nice... but the new chatroom software requires SoftShell Protocol to put the chat on the site.
HAs anyone used this before because neither of us are familiar with it.

Um, you mean SSH as in Secure Shell, I think. You connect to the host machine using a local client. It sets up an encrypted channel to the machine. At the simplest level, you can simply type away at the command line on the target machine. At a slightly higher level, you can run a VNC client locally, and tunnel its data over the SSH connection, giving you remote access to the host's desktop. I think you'll be doing things from the command prompt, though.
A good Windows client is called PuTTY. It's easy to use, and there's plenty of info regarding SSH at Wikipedia and elsewhere.

Ah he told me it was called SoftShell I think, but yeah that sounds about right.
I don't know much about this part of the website making process, I'm just a dab hand at graphic design.
I'll tell him what you told me and see if it helps. Cheers.
