AT versus ATX boxes
OK, I've got the ATX box but can't use it on my motherboard 'cos the ATX power supply seems to be switched through the 'board. Is that the essential difference between the AT and the ATX, the way the power is switched?
What do all these acronyms mean? Is there a glossary out there? HELP!!!!

ATX has completely different connector for power supply, and is the latest board for things like Pii & Piii. There's no way to make an AT board work in an ATX case. You may also have to look at some of the other boards as well, ATX does not have things like VESA slots for video cards, the standard now is AGP, so it may mean more than just a motherboard swap over

FYI there are some motherboards that come in the AT form factor that also have the ATX power supply connector, i.e Gigayte GA6BA. I had this fitted in an AT box and an ATX box, the ATX box has some plates on the back so you can fit either an AT or ATX motherboard, AT you have seperate parallel, serial ports etc. Also ATX boards only accept PS2 type keyboards. Box costs around £25 can be got at computer fairs http://www.advancefairs.co.uk or http://computer-fairs.co.uk I've been down this road and may be able to help you out.
