Post ie5.5 installation ----Heeeeeeelllllllllllpppppppppp

A mate has just installed IE5.5 to a computer that has been running Netscape Communicator 4.7. The IE Outlook express suite seems ok but every time you try to open a web page with the IE browser it asks a question about opening a file in current location or to hard disk. This question relates to the page your trying to open, ie PPrune etc etc. It just wont open a page with the browser and is getting very frustrating.

Any suggestions are welcome

In tools, internet options, programs, try ticking the box that says Internet Explorer should check to see if it is the default browser.
Hope this helps.

Also check that 'Work Offline' under the file menu is not selected.

I've had a simillar problem. If you installed IE over the top of NS then that is the problem. You need to completely uninstall "NS" BEFORE installing IE. You will then need to UNINSTALL windows and then re-install windows with only IE on the system. Bit of a pain but it worked.
