Outlook Express.
Recieved two nasty looking e-mails from very weird addresses. The subject line of one of them said (words to the effect of)
"Hi my name is Wilma - I had a dream..."
I'm sure I've read that opening this will cause depression.
So - how do I not open it?? If I click on it, with either left or right mouse button, in an attempt to highlight it to then get to the "delete" command...it automatically opens...how do I NOT open it but still delete it??
<<Edited for typo..spotted late!!>>

It sounds like you have the "preview pane" activated and this can be fatal in OE. To change the setting, go to view/layout and deselect preview pane. This way you can selct the message with a single click and delete it without opening.
Best

GoneWest, I think Wilma is just raunchy spam and nothing malicious. However you ought to configure your internet applications so that you need not fear clicking on such messages, whether or not malware is attached. For Outlook Express you can find some information here: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/sec...12_ii_oe5.html
and probably at M$'s site as well. Other articles are at http://securityresponse.symantec.com.../Articles.html

Handy...thanks....got rid of preview pane...don't like it (used to the other way) but I feel safer.
Brian....had a look at the sites...my security was already set at the recommended levels (I didn't put it there...it just kinda happened).
Thanks guys...best wishes for your entire future...not just the New Year.
