Question Spelling checker

I want to start sending application letters in German but my version of Word doesn't have the required files to check the spelling in the German language.
Does anybody know if and where I could download these files? I tried Microsoft already, they are just offering a pretty expensive multi-language package.

You need to go to the following page:

http://www.germancorner.com/info/msspellcheck.html

There you can download an official Microsoft German spell checker, totally free, and it's only half a MB.

If you buy (I know that it is expensive) MS Office 2000 you get English/French and Spanish spell checkers. L&H Power translator Pro will also translate into Spanish.

Starlight,

if you use Word on a MAC you can get one for free at http://www.eg.bucknell.edu/%7Eexcalibr/excalibur.html

Otherwise I'm not aware of any free PC-based Spanish spellcheckers. There are umpteen available to buy relatively cheaply, eg http://www.spanishproducts.com/langu...ellchecker.htm

A free alternative is to use an online text checker (paste your text into it for checking), a bit cumbersome but depends what you want to do: http://www.spellonline.com/

A little bird (actually quite a large bird, but that's another story) just told me that Palware is now totally gratis, it includes a spellchecker and a Spanish dictionary is available. Never tried it myself but it could be worth a look:
