Lightbulb Someone please make the next flightsim better.

Just a few qualms I have with FS2000 that I WISH someone would fix for the next one......

1. A more realistic type autopilot with VNAV/LNAV modes, or at least a FLCH type mode with A/T operational while manually flying.

2. 767s can't do 360kts to 2nm and slow down to landing speed before touchdown, nor can they descend at a rate off the VSI scale, within normal operating speeds. I am sure the 737/777 is the same. You can't get an appreciation of the momentum that exists when flying a heavy jet unless you get that feeling of coming in a little hot and a little high with the brakes already out!!!

3. I am sick of having to turn the autobrakes off after takeoff!

4. The flaps move too quickly!

5. Assymetric flight and crosswind landings are just plain weird!

6. Brakes are unbelievably effective. When you can take foxtrot on 16R at Sydney in a 777 you know somethings wrong.

Yes I am just complaining but it would be nice for Microsoft to make it a little better, seeing its 'As Real As It Gets.' !!!!!

No matter what the folks at microsoft say, PC-based flight sims will never be that realistic.

Fortunately, however, Flightsim 2000 has a lot of hidden features and settings, and supports more realistic a/c. There are several sites on the net, notably www.flightsim.com , which help you make FS2000 (and other) sims more realistic.

Hope this helps somewhat!

A few other things to enhance the realism of FS2000:
 • Rudder Pedals (largely ignored in today's sims).
 • A good force feedback joystick, if you have the money
 • Download the best panels and tweaks from www.flightsim.com - which is completely free
 • You can also get ATC and co-pilot sounds and addons for realism (free)

Finally, if you are really comitted... you could build your own dedicated simulator in the privacy of your own home:

Only if you have far too much time (and $$$)!

Cheers guys for your help, I just bought online and downloaded a Phoenix 747-400 Pro aircraft, panel and sound package. From www.phoenix-simulation.co.uk, was very impressed with the improvements with visuals and systems. The FMC still lacks a fair bit but it is a VAST improvement over anything standard in Flight Sim !!!
