Migration from Win2k 2 Win98
Has anyone tried to go back from Win2k to Win98. I ask because 2 friends of mine have just bought Dell notebooks with 2k installed. They both hate it and wish to get rid of it. Dell have been no help, which I find unusual, and I am no network administrator, so I/we are wondering if there is someone who has trodden this path before.
At the moment, my strategy is to build a startup floppy for the machine, then format the hard drive, do whatever partitioning is required, then bang on good ole' 98. All suggestions gladly received.

Based simply on what you say, and without going into the reasons why Win2K is not wanted, just trash it all by booting from a Win98 boot-up floppy, partition the drive, re-format and load 98, 98SE, or ME.
Done it often on laptops, but there are the usual caveats as to what you'll do if Dell have installed 'funny' hardware/modems etc. which 98 doesn't detect...
On average, it'll be reet!
