High-Def DVD player
OK, not really a computer or internet question - but close enough I hope.
So here I am, sitting in front of a nice HD-ready TV (complete with HDMI sockets) and I'm wondering whether it's a good time to invest in a new DVD player to make the most of the screen's capabilities.
I've held off buying a high-def machine because of the format war but from what I read Blu-ray seems to have won. Any views out there - is it too early to label BD the winner or is there still life in HD-DVD?
And if I go for a BD machine, any recommendations?
TIA.

HD-DVD is effectively dead and Sony have jacked up the price of Blu-Ray.
Recommendations? Wait until the price comes back down, then there will be more choice

Ecce Homo! Loquitur...
Blu-Ray forum. I have 2, a USA model and a UK model. The USA model is a PlayStation 3. The reason? It's a very, very high quality Blu-Ray player, firmware updatable to the latest standard - plus it's an upscaler and, incldently, a great games console.
If you are set on a stand-alone player, read the other reviews/threads on the Panasonic etc.
